Mama, May I Love You? Honoring Motherhood Through Beauty and Empowerment
As both a daughter and a mother, I've come to realize the immense hood we've repped and raised often goes unnoticed and uncelebrated. Today, I'm using my beauty platform not just to showcase remarkable mother and daughter relationships but to honor the sacrifices and strength of all mothers out there.
Beside me stands my beautiful mother, the epitome of selflessness and resilience. After losing my father just 15 years into their marriage, she devoted herself entirely to raising four children, putting aside her own aspirations for the sake of our well-being. Today, I grant her permission – permission to release her grief, to welcome abundance willingly, to rest whenever she needs, and above all, to prioritize her own freedom and happiness.
In our household, love, laughter, fashion, and dancing are cherished like treasures. These are the threads that bind us together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. But beyond the surface, there's a deeper bond, a silent understanding of the sacrifices made and the love shared.
Introducing "Mama, May I Love You?" – a campaign that delves into the complex journey of a daughter seeking permission to be herself while honoring her mother's sacrifices. Symbolized by the boldness of red lipstick, it's a rebellion against societal norms and a reclaiming of identity. Through this campaign, I aim to empower not just my own mother, but mothers everywhere, to break free from the shackles of the past and embrace their true selves.
The title itself holds significance, paying homage to the act of seeking permission, while also coinciding with the month of May – a time traditionally dedicated to celebrating mothers. But beyond just one month, let's make every day an opportunity to appreciate and honor the incredible women who have shaped our lives.
So here's to you, Mama, and to all the mothers out there – may you always know that your sacrifices are seen and appreciated, and may you continue to inspire us with your strength and love.
Love,
Kristin
